to Greenhill Wines

Greenhill Wines is a vineyard, cellar door and café situated in the Piccadilly Valley region of the Adelaide Hills. At 590m above the city the climate is cooler and wetter than the plains though only 20 minutes drive from the CBD.

The beautiful landscape is reflected in the wine, food and strong community in the region. Rub shoulders with the locals and be a resident for a few hours.

Be part of our Greenhill family and join us for a wine and some lunch on the deck, the winery dog, Piero, will probably sit on your feet. For the more energetic the lawn is a popular spot for a game of Finska. The cafe and deck is becoming a popular venue for celebration parties and small weddings.

Meet the team

Paul and Penny Henschke had lived next door for 20 years when they bought the vineyard in 2009.  They make a formidable, and ever welcoming team as winemaker, fabulous cook and welcoming hosts.

The Wine

Grapes for our wines are all sourced within 2.5km of the winery. They are all hand-picked and fermented with selected or vineyard yeasts. Our high altitude cool climate vineyards allow harvest of balanced grapes minimising wine making interventions. Our sparkling wines are made using the traditional bottle fermented method.

Tasting plates are a perfect light lunch for two.  Here chicken with tomato and chickpeas is paired with carrot buckwheat tabbouleh and a winter salad of broccolini and cauliflower.

Barramundi flamed with wild fennel and our Chardonnay at the Winter Reds lunch. The theme was ‘Fire up the barrel’, there was fire alright!
